The BIG 3-0

The time has come that Eddie couldn't avoid anymore- becoming an adult!! At least, that's how I feel about turning 30 years old. I wanted him to feel that this was a special day all about him, and throw some surprises in there. So we started out the morning at the spa (I didn't tell him but he just figured) and had a very nice relaxing time. No pictures of that of course. After we got all relaxed I took him to his favorite restaurant for lunch (I didn't tell him but he just figured) where my family was waiting to surprise him! Of course he saw our truck and knew that my parents were there before we went in, but he didn't see Eric and Chantil's car so FINALLY I got a surprise in his day!!! I was very happy about that. We had a great lunch with great people! After lunch we headed back to the house for presents, cake and fun.
CAKE!!!
The birthday boy getting sung to
Group shot (minus a napping Nicolas)- which Eddie switched the 3-0 to read 0-3. Already in denial.
Opening presents, horray!
Reading all his wonderful cards!! Thank you so much to everyone who made his day that much more special.:)
This is what Nicolas was doing
Fun with balloons! Little Eddie loved to make Bama's hair all static clingy!
Nicolas was finally up and raring to go! He had a blast with the balloons too.
Who doesn't love balloons?
The birthday boy trading some laughs with Eric and Dad
Cheese! Nicolas loves Uncle Eric
And so does Eddie!
They equally love Aunt Chantil also

Uncle Eric and Aunt Chantil's 2 doggies love to be fed carrots, and when Nicolas saw them on the table he remembered and wanted to feed everyone like they were doggies. Uncle Eric was a good sport
So he had to give him a bug squeeze!
Little Eddie got a carrot too and they were really hard to bite!
Grandpa's turn!
Cheese! What a fun party! Happy Birthday to Eddie!!

A Walk in the Park

Yesterday Eddie and I were lucky enough to be able to walk in Atlanta for Cure Kids Cancer at Six Flags. We were walking with Eddie's class of Warrant Officers and their family, and we raised over $2700!!! Thank you so much for all the generous donations!! We were so glad to be there, and of course it was very emotional for both of us. We are blessed with 2 happy, healthy boys and know that is not the case for all families.

It was HOT already at 8am, and I was wishing I didn't have 2 shirts on... While we were walking there were characters everywhere cheering us on! We met Eddie's favorite, Wiley Coyote

And we even ran into our little Nicolas! Oh, I mean The Tazmanian Devil.
After a great walk, we gave our free tickets to one of the families in our group that would have had to buy them, and headed downtown to the Coke Factory.

At the Coke factory we got to meet the World Cup mascot after a neat 3-D show
When we got home the boys were having a great time with Grandpa and Bama! Little Eddie was catching up on one of Grandpa's books.
Then he got his own book and they read together :)

The great outdoors!

Last weekend started off pretty fun! Eddie was having an Organizational Day for his unit, so we all got to play at a local amusement area for free. Little Eddie was itching to get on the go-karts so first thing they got in line and waited for their turn. Ready to go!
Hi Mom!
Wow that was fun!
There was a little roller coaster I took the kids on but Eddie was inside so I couldn't release Nicolas long enough to take a picture. He's like a dog, as soon as they feel the pressure release, they take off!
Then we went on the little planes and as you can see by their huge smiling faces, they loved it!
After a fun little morning (and a few Nicolas meltdowns) we snuck out to have lunch at Eddie's favorite place

The rest of the weekend involoved a whole lotta nothin, so Sunday afternoon we decided to take advantage of the day. 95 degrees but thankfully a wonderful breeze. Perfect for flying a kite!
Sing it with me people:
Let's go fly a kite
Up to the highest height
Let's go fly a kite
And send it soaring!
Nicolas thought it was hilarious when Little Eddie was flying his kite, but when Daddy opened the big one I guess it scared him silly and he was screaming with fear.
Little Eddie was having the time of his life!!
Luckily after about 15 minutes I was able to calm Nicolas down and even convinced him to help me fly one.
Lightning McQueen and Mater! This is the one Nicolas didn't like.

Taking a rest while the kite was flying like crazy- it was super windy and perfect for kites!
A stolen moment
Eddie reading to Nicolas- I love when he does this!
This week Little Eddie started swim lessons! I was a little nervous since most of the time when we have him in the pool he freaks out. But, he was ready to jump right in! And he did!
Kicking on his back. He is a pro.
His first day he went under water to get this ring! A little water up the nose but not enough to traumatize, thank goodness.
Doing some swimming with the noodles
Day 2- at the end of the class they asked who wanted to go down the slide and he DID! Waiting his turn.
After the slide, cold(it was 85 out), wet and ready to go home. I don't think he will go down the slide tomorrow...
Doing an awesome paddle
